I met Burt at about 1994 soon after I moved to Berlin, MD and joined Temple Bat Yam. Burt was active in the Temple and always had a strong point of view. I played poker with Burt, Don Klein, Jerry Wells, Ed Abrams, Paul Helfner, Marty Green and others almost every Tuesday night. Burt brought creativity and fun to the event. He won more often then he should have. During the summer we played at the Brae Mar, in the community room and Burt made sure that it was available for us.

Burt and Gloria gave generously to the Temple. The building would not have been built without their help.

Burt, I miss your kindness and your wisdom. Rest in peace.

I would like to post memories of Mr. Nestler. My name is Diane Redman and I helped them with their home in Ocean Pines. I dearly loved Mr. Nestler and think the world of Gloria. I was out of work and posted a sign at the local grocery store looking for cleaning work. Mr Nestler called and gave me the address, I can still see their faces when I showed up I came to work and not quote a price. We have been great friends ever since. I really missed them coming this past summer. Mr. Nestler would often tell me stories as I went about my work as he watched the stockmarket in his study, and I enjoyed and learned alot from him. I would bake zuccini bread and bring vegetables from my garden to them, how he loved that bread! I will miss him dearly and I think of him often. My prayers are with all of his friends and family. For ten years, I had the pleasure of sitting in front of Bert [ and Gloria} and we became very good friends and I continued to see them when they lived in Boyton Beach for several years. I had such happy memories of being in his company and enjoying our many conversations and his warm friendship. I will really mioss talking to him on the relephone and his dear presence. Dear Gloria and Family,

I am already missing Bert!  You know he and I loved our oneg conversations.  He always had something interesting to say, and I really enjoyed talking to him.  Bert was a very smart guy, and there was always something to learn from him. 

I just found out yesterday how Bert saved the temple so much money during construction by having all the lumber purchased through his own account at his discounted price. 

Gloria, I look forward to your coming back to TBY this summer.  It will mean a lot to us to have one Nestler still with us and also so we can give Bert the sendoff he so richly deserves.

What a great spirit Bert had.  Despite the difference in our ages, we used to speak on the phone all the time and we had extended conversations on all sorts of subjects.  He was truly one of my favorite clients.  More of a friend than a client.  I will miss our conversations and his sense of humor.
My sincere condolences to Gloria and the entire family.  He was a special guy.
